Auriculotherapy

As seen on:

Ear Acupressure (Auriculotherapy)

The World Health Organization (WHO), announced in 1990, that Auricular therapy is “probably the most developed and best documented, scientifically, of all the “micro-systems” of acupuncture and is the most practical and widely used.”

Is Auriculotherapy a Kind of Acupuncture?

This science was first compiled in the late 1950′s in France by a physician. Auriculotherapy is ear acupuncture, but it can be accomplished with or without needles.  Needles or a micro current stimulator is placed on reflex points outside the ear.  These points then send a message to the brain based on the location of the reflex point being treated.

Auriculotherapy is also based on the human nervous system, whereas acupuncture is based on “energy meridians.”  Auriculotherapy is an FDA approved treatment for over 350 diseases, and has been shown to help with a variety of musculoskeletal diseases, chronic pain, insomnia, addiction, and much more, including such diverse problems as acne treatment, weight management, depression treatment, pain management, and stress relief.  It can even help you quit smoking and detox from addictions.

Benefits of Auriculotherapy

The WHO also recognizes Auricular therapy as a treatment option for over 150 conditions such as:

  • Stress
  • Migraines
  • Facial Paralysis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Sciatica
  • Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Arthritis
  • Pain from Cancer
  • Pain
  • Allergies
  • Hot Flashes
  • Hormone Imbalance
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Weight Loss
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Drug and alcohol detox

From depression, restless leg syndrome to acne, Auriculotherapy treats a far ranging number of conditions, including chronic pain, stress relief, migraine headaches, and more.  It can even help you quit smoking. We can use traditional methods or needless treatments for your convenience and comfort

What is Auriculotherapy?

Imagine your brain as a computer. Inside this computer is a systemic “map” of the body.  Now, what if there was “keyboard” access to the “brain’s computer?”  We would be able to directly treat a number of problems and conditions through the brain’s computer just by knowing how to effectively use the keyboard.

This is the neurophysiological theory behind the Auriculotherapy. The nerves originating from ear “reflex points” are projected back to the brain. This effect is what gives us a “keyboard” (the human ear) that connects directly to our “brain’s computer.”

Auriculotherapy is a clinical science recognized by the World Health Organization and approved by the FDA. It has undergone many in-depth studies at major universities here in the US and abroad.

Auriculotherapy for Mental Health?

Throughout the lifespan people are affected by traumatic events. These psycho-physical patterns can manifest as aggravated pain, chronic disease escalation, insomnia, anxiety, depression, disassociation, substance dependence, impulsive behaviors, suicidality, and other trauma-related symptoms. They require somatic and emotional processing support for trauma reduction and recovery. Auriculotherapy is a powerful somatic intervention that helps re-regulate traumatic disregulation, so that emotional processing can occur. It can be used in a variety of clinical settings (private settings or in community group settings) and is effective as a primary or as an adjunctive therapy.

These types of chemicals also contribute greatly to our sense of well-being, so they can help those struggling with cravings and withdrawal as well. Acu-detox, also called Acupuncture Detoxification, utilizes principles of both Chinese medicine and traditional Western therapies. It is specifically designed to treat patients struggling with addiction. Treatable addictions include cigarettes, drugs and alcohol, sugar, over-eating, over-working, and more.

Following treatment, clients report a significant decrease in cravings, withdrawal symptoms, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and aggression.

What is Acu-Detox?

Acu-detox is a special type of acupuncture treatment. It involves the gentle placement of five small, thin, sterilized, disposable stainless steel needles into specific sites on a patient’s ears. In addition, acupuncturists work to identify triggers and offer coaching to ease patients’ daily addiction struggles. Acudetox acupuncture works on the major detoxification organs of the body. Using a holistic method, each needle opens up possibilities in the body, mind, and spirit.

Benefits of Acu-detox:

Acu-detox has been shown to significantly decrease cravings for alcohol and drugs, cigarettes, and sugar and other foods, as well as induce an extreme sense of calm in the body. It has also been shown to decrease withdrawal symptoms, lessen the occurrence of relapse, aid in inpatient detox admissions, and reduce anxiety, insomnia, and agitation. Acu-detox allows a patient to release the object of his or her addiction and can aid in stress management.
